BANDS AND PROJECTS

WANV

Gothenburg <3 Archipelago

WANV is a collaboration with a Swedish-Finnish jazz trio Westlin/Andersson/Nummela that searches for freedom and serenity within improvisation and composition. They will tour in outer Finnish Archipelago in June-July 2018 and play acoustically in historical chapels and small churches. They will also record their new material while on tour that also includes improvisation outdoors on Nötö island around "the ringing stone"  - a big piece of granite that Nummela will play as his instrument.  They plan to release their album in October 2018.

TRANSATLANTTISET

Cowriting across the Atlantic

"Tomi had gotten to know Lowell in an international jazz conference in Boston in 2016. I myself got to know and play a lot with him during my year in Miami, where he also was studying, teaching and playing. Together, via video calls and messages, we decided to put up a programme of original compositions, some of which are cowritten. With our particular chamber-like quintet (without a chord instrument!) we explore breathing, conversation and sounds that reflect our warm thoughts overseas." Transatlanttiset performed in mid-March in Helsinki area and is to release music in the fall of 2019.
