The Mortal Lease is an eight-part suite that Vannesluoma composed to Edith Wharton's (1862-1937) sonnets. Written in 1908, the poems tell a story of a smoldering summer affair, awakening to passion and to artistic enlightenment. The ensemble consists of the Finnish jazz frontline - Mikael Myrskog on piano, Nathan Francis on double bass and Ville Luukkonen on drums. The debut release features also Sampo Kasurinen in ornamental alto flute and majestic tenor solos and was released as LP, CD and digital through Flame Jazz Records on October 20, 2023.
