Josefiina Vannesluoma is a vocalist and flute player from Helsinki, Finland. She also composes and writes texts for Signe, Transatlanttiset and Nossa Bossa as well as for various smaller projects.
Born in 1990 in Turku, she began her musical studies with classical flute repertoire and sang in school choirs. At age fourteen she found a Brazilian compilation album that immersed her to bossa nova sound and mimicing tropical rhythms. From there it didn't take her long to find more interesting records with guest jazz artists that eventually took her to engage with American bebop and standard repertoires, and more experimental musics. Today she works increasingly in between different genres, exploring especially through improvisations.
She has pursued two Bachelor's degrees in Jazz Performance as well as in Music Education at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. From August 2016 until May 2017 she lived in Miami, USA making music and studying. The spring 2019 she studied with Anders Jormin at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden.
